Winter Streetwear in Pakistan: How to Layer in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad
Share
Pakistani winter is not one season. It is three different ones depending on which city you are standing in, and the wardrobe that carries someone through December in Islamabad will have them overheating by noon in Karachi. Most streetwear advice online is written for climates that actually get cold for five months a year, which is why it rarely translates here.
This is a practical layering guide for the way winter works across Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, built around pieces that already exist in the Dripzy range, with the real PKR prices attached so you can see what a full winter rotation costs before you buy anything.
The three cities do not need the same wardrobe
Karachi sits on the coast, and that changes everything. Daytime through the cold months stays warm enough that a heavy fleece is uncomfortable by early afternoon, but evenings near the sea drop enough to want a layer. The practical answer for Karachi is a tee you can wear alone plus something you can carry and pull on after sunset, rather than a single heavy piece you are stuck in all day.
Lahore gets a genuine winter, with cold mornings and the heavy fog that settles in through December and January. A single layer stops being enough and the fleece becomes the main piece rather than the backup. Islamabad is the coldest of the three and the one where layering properly actually matters, because the drop between afternoon and night is sharp enough that one-piece dressing fails.
Start with the base layer, not the outer one
Most people buy the hoodie first and then work out what goes underneath. That is backwards. The base layer is what sits against your skin all day and it is the cheapest part of the system to get right.
Plain basics from our essentials collection start at PKR 1,200 in black, white and brown, and the garment-dyed washed basics are PKR 1,550 in grey, brown, beige, maroon, olive green, stone blue and black. Two or three of these in rotation will carry you through the whole season under a fleece. If you want the base layer to be the visible part on warmer Karachi days, graphic tees in the t-shirts collection run PKR 1,750 to PKR 1,850, with garment-dyed washed graphics at PKR 2,250.
Sweatshirt or hoodie, and why 300 GSM matters
Both our sweatshirts and hoodies are cut on the same 300 GSM fleece. GSM is grams per square metre, a straight measure of fabric weight, and 300 is the point where fleece has enough body to hold an oversized shape instead of collapsing against you. It is heavy enough for a Lahore or Islamabad winter without being the kind of weight you cannot wear indoors.
The choice between them is less about warmth than about how you layer. A crewneck sweatshirt sits flat under a jacket and works better when something else goes over the top. A hood adds real warmth around the neck and doubles as the outer layer on its own, which is why it is the better single purchase if you are only buying one.
Plain Essentials sweatshirts are PKR 1,899 and plain Essentials hoodies are PKR 2,199, both in black, white, navy and cream with no print anywhere. Graphic hoodies in the hoodies collection are PKR 2,399, and graphic sweatshirts run PKR 1,999 to PKR 2,250.
What a full winter rotation actually costs
Working from the bottom up: three plain tees at PKR 1,200 each, one washed basic at PKR 1,550, one plain hoodie at PKR 2,199 and one pair of Classic Relaxed Trousers at PKR 2,100 comes to PKR 9,449 for a rotation that covers most of the season. Swap one plain tee for a graphic and you are adding PKR 550 to PKR 650.
If you are buying in stages, the order that gets you the most wear per rupee is: plain tee, hoodie, trousers, then graphics. The plain pieces do the work; the graphics are what make the outfit yours.
Trousers matter more in winter than in summer
An oversized top needs a bottom with enough volume to balance it, and that becomes more obvious once you add fleece. Our Classic Relaxed Trousers are PKR 2,100 in off-white, black and navy, with an elasticated drawstring waist and a wide straight leg that falls clean rather than tapering.
Black is the safest first pair because it disappears under everything. Off-white is the one that lifts a plain dark fleece into something that looks deliberate, and navy sits between the two.
Three winter fits that work
For a warm Karachi afternoon: a washed basic tee at PKR 1,550 with black trousers, and a plain sweatshirt carried for after sunset. The washed finish is what stops a plain tee looking like a plain tee.
For a Lahore weekend: a plain tee under a graphic hoodie, with off-white trousers for contrast against a black or navy fleece. This is the fit that photographs well and takes almost no thought.
For an Islamabad evening: a washed basic underneath, a plain Essentials crewneck over it, and a hoodie on top of both. Three thin-to-medium layers hold more warmth than one thick one, and you can shed the top piece indoors without ending up in a t-shirt.
Keeping fleece in shape through the season
Wash fleece cold and inside out, and wash it less often than you think it needs. Heavy cotton fleece does not need a cycle after every wear, and every wash is a small amount of shape lost. Never wring a hoodie out by twisting it, and dry it flat or on a wide hanger rather than pegged by the shoulders, which is what stretches the shoulder line out of shape over a season.
Sizing, delivery and payment
Everything above is unisex and stocked in S, M, L and XL. All of it is cut oversized already, so the size you take in a regular fit is usually the size you take here; going up a size makes the fit baggy rather than oversized, which are not the same thing.
Delivery is a flat Rs 250 anywhere in Pakistan, free on orders over Rs 3,999, and usually takes 3 to 5 working days. Worth knowing when you are planning a winter order: a hoodie and a pair of trousers together comes to PKR 4,299 and ships free, while a hoodie and a plain tee at PKR 3,399 does not quite clear it. We accept cash on delivery, bank transfer, JazzCash and Easypaisa.
New pieces land in new arrivals as each print comes off the run, and winter fleece is where most of the recent additions have gone. If you have a question about fit or an order, WhatsApp us on +92 339 0123450, Monday to Saturday, 11am to 8pm.
